2015/16 NHL Betting Odds: Division Futures

Fall has finally arrived and the new NHL season isn’t far behind it. The puck drops on the new hockey season just over a week from today so it’s time to place your preseason future bets.

At online sportsbook Bodog they have futures available for all four divisions with some good money to be made if an upset team can sneak through.

Let’s start in the Atlantic Division where the favorite is Tampa Bay at +215. The Lightning may have gone all the way to the Stanley Cup final last season but it was actually the Montreal Canadiens who won the Atlantic Division.

Led by Hart and Vezina Trophy winner Carey Price, the Habs are still getting pretty good odds at +240 and other contenders include Boston at +550, Detroit at +650 and Ottawa at +700.

In the Metropolitan Division the Bodog oddsmakers have tagged the reigning division champion New York Rangers as a +240 favorite. New acquisition Phil Kessel and Pittsburgh follows them at +325, while Alex Ovechkin and Washington are +450 and the Islanders are +475 in their first season in Brooklyn.

The only other team getting triple digit odds is Columbus at +650.

In the Western Conference the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks are the favorite to claim the Central Division at +240. Minnesota comes in next on the NHL division futures at +275.

The St. Louis Blues won the division last year and are +300 to repeat. Nashville is also being given a legitimate shot by the Bodog oddmakers at +450.

Finally, in the Pacific Division Anaheim is a big favorite to repeat as division champs at +160. Their California rivals, Los Angeles, come in next at +275 despite not even making the postseason a year ago.

And while the Sunshine State is getting the top odds Alberta is getting some newfound respect from the oddsmakers with the Calgary Flames at +600 and the Edmonton Oilers at +650.
