Habs Lead Cdn Teams on Stanley Cup Odds

The Montreal Canadiens remain Canada’s best shot, and possibly only shot, to bring the Stanley Cup home to Canada according to the oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodog.

The Canadiens have taken a hit on the Stanley Cup futures lately, but they’re still far and away getting the best odds of any Canadian club.  Right now the Habs are listed at +1200 at Bodog which puts them tied for fifth spot on the futures.

The rest of the Canadian clubs are well down the odds list. That’s well deserved too considering the only other team even occupying a playoff spot right now are the Ottawa Senators.

The Senators, though, are still Stanley Cup longshots at +4000, which is down from the +2800 odds they were getting a week ago. The odds for the rest of the Canadian teams includes Winnipeg and Vancouver both at +5000, buy Antabuse online Calgary at +7500 and Edmonton and Toronto at +20,000.

Leading the futures right now are the Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals, both at +700. The Caps are down slightly after occupying the top spot alone last week at +650.

The Stars are the top team in the league right now with 42 points and Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin continue to put up a ton of points.

The Capitals are third in the Eastern Conference with 38 points, but they have three games in hand on both teams they’re trailing. Washington is also receiving stellar goaltending from Braden Holtby, who leads the league in goals-against average and wins.

One of the biggest movers on the Cup futures this week are the Minnesota Wild. Last week the Wild were listed at +2000, but a few solid showings has boosted them up to +1400.

Minnesota started off December with three straight wins, including back-to-back shutouts of Toronto and Colorado.
