Blue Jays Tumbling on World Series Odds

For the ALCS the Blue Jays started out as the favorite in the series and the favorite to win the World Series. After they dropped the first two games to Kansas City that quickly changed.

Sitting only two wins away from a second straight trip to the World Series the Royals are now the co-favorites to win it all at online sportsbook Bodog at +150. Toronto has dropped to a +500 World Series underdog.

Toronto faces a near must-win game Monday night when young phenom Marcus Stroman faces off against Royals hired gun Johnny Cueto. Both pitchers last went to the hill to pitch their teams’ series clincher in Game 5 of the ALDS. Returning home for Game 3 the Jays are a -165 favorite at Bodog.

Cueto allowed only two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts over eight strong innings last time out. In his only start against the Jays this season Cueto recorded a no-decision after giving up three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

Against Texas in Game 5 Stroman went six innings and surrendered two runs on six hits with four strikeouts. He has only faced the Royals once in his young career and held them to one run over six innings last season.

Over in the NLCS the New York Mets have taken a 2-0 series lead over the Chicago Cubs. That has caused the Bodog oddsmakers to give them a bump on the futures as well, also placing them at +150. The Cubs are now the largest underdog on the odds at +700.

The Mets took down Cubs starters Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta in the first two games, while getting strong outings from Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard. Daniel Murphy also continued his postseason assault with home runs off both Lester and Arrieta.

The Mets appear to have the edge in Game 3 with Jacob deGrom going up against Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks. In two starts against the Dodgers in the ALDS deGrom posted two wins after pitching a combined 13 innings, allowing only two runs with 20 strikeouts.

Hendricks lasted 4 2-3 innings against the Cardinals in the NLDS and allowed three runs with seven strikeouts.
