Bulls, Thunder look to close out series without stars

Both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls will be looking to close out their first-round NBA playoff series this week without star players in the lineup. The Bulls have been without guard Derrick Rose all season long, while the Thunder just lost guard Russell Westbrook for the season with a knee injury.

The Thunder increased their series lead on the Rockets to 3-0 without Westbrook in the lineup on Saturday night, but it wasn’t easy as they had to hold on for a 104-101 road win as slight 1-point underdogs. Kevin Durant had 41 points for Oklahoma City in that game, order nolvadex while James Harden was good for 30 points in the loss for the Rockets.

Oklahoma City will be back on the floor in Houston for Game 4 of their series on Monday night, with the Bulls also in action on Monday as they play against the Nets in Brooklyn. Chicago owns a 3-1 lead on the Nets in their first-round series after they outlasted them in a 142-134 home win that took three overtime frames on Saturday. Chicago managed to cover a 2-point spread on the NBA betting odds in that contest.

The third game on tap for Monday has Indiana at Atlanta, with the Pacers up 2-1 in that first-round series. On Tuesday the Grizzlies and Clippers will break a 2-2 series deadlock with Game 5 at the Staples Center, while the Warriors face the Nuggets in Denver in the fifth game of that first-round set. On Wednesday the Knicks will try again to eliminate the Celtics after Boston topped them 97-90 in OT as a 1.5-point underdog on Sunday afternoon to cut New York’s lead in the best-of-seven series down to 3-1.

Over on the MLB schedule for the week ahead the Boston Red Sox will be looking to pile on the Toronto Blue Jays as those two American League East clubs meet at the Rogers Centre in a three-game series starting on Tuesday night. The Red Sox are coming off a four-game sweep of the Houston Astros over the weekend, while the Blue Jays lost all four of their games to the New York Yankees. Toronto also dropped two of three games to the Red Sox earlier in April, but they’re 6-4 in their past 10 meetings.

As well, the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves will meet in a four-game series starting Monday night this week, with the Nats riding a seven-game losing streak against the Braves heading into the set. Washington ace Stephen Strasburg gets the start on Monday – he’s just 1-4 on the season with a 3.16 ERA in his five outings.
