College World Series Futures

The baseball stars of tomorrow gather in Omaha, Nebraska this week for the 2012 College World Series.

The top seed in the tournament are the Florida Gators and they’re also the favorites on the College World Series futures at at 5/2. The Gators made it all the way to the final of the College World Series last year but came up short, losing to eventual champion South Carolina.

Led by pitcher Jonathon Crawford and catcher Mike Zunino, the Gators have an all-around talented squad that will be hard to beat in the tournament. Crawford pitched a no-hitter just last week in the opening round of the Gainesville Regional Tournament, the first Gator no-hitter since 1991 and just the seventh in NCAA  Tournament history. Zunino went third overall in the draft to Seattle earlier this month can do it with his bat and his defensive skills behind the plate.

The Gamecocks are also back this year and at they are a 4/1 underdog to repeat. South Carolina will be looking for a three-peat after winning back-to-back College World Series titles in 2010 and 2011. South Carolina also enters the tournament riding the longest College World Series winning streak in NCAA history at 21 games.

South Carolina has an ace pitcher in Michael Roth and two of the best hitters in the SEC in Christian Walker and Tanner English, so another title is not out of the question. Doses may be increased order lasix 20-40 mg every 6-8 hours until the desired effect occurs. Interestingly the Gators and Gamecocks will meet up in the first round of the tournament.

This year’s World Series also includes a pair of first time participants, as Stony Brook and Kent State are both making their first College World Series appearances. Stony Brook, a 15/2 long shot in the tournament at should definitely be worth keeping an eye on after they pulled off a shocking upset of No. 1 LSU last week. Pitching got Stony Brook here and if they can deliver a few more strong performances in Omaha they could surprise. Kent State is the biggest underdog in the tournament at 15/1.
