Michigan State is a Sweet 16 Betting Favorite

The East Region of this year’s NCAA Tournament became a wide open affair when both No. 1 Villanova and No. 2 Virginia went down in stunning defeats. Online sportsbook Bodog has now settled in on No. 7 Michigan State as an 8/5 favorite to make it to the Final Four out of this region in its latest odds to win the East.

The Spartans’ betting odds to go on and win a national championship have been set at 14/1. They will face No. 3 Oklahoma this Friday night in one of two East Region semifinal matchups as 2.5-point favorites on the Bodog betting odds. No. 8 North Carolina State will square off against No. 4 Louisville in the other game with the Cardinals favored by three points.

Both Louisville and Oklahoma are 13/5 second-favorites to win the East followed by the Wolfpack at 5/1. The Sooners (22/1) have the slight edge over the Cardinals (25/1) to win this tournament.

The South’s top-seeded Duke Blue Devils are now 5/4 favorites to advance to the Final Four out of this region with No. 2 Gonzaga listed as a 3/2 second-favorite. Before these two can battle it out in the regional final Duke will have to get past No. 5 Utah this Friday as a six-point favorite, while the Bulldogs face No. 11 UCLA as 8.5-point favorites. The Blue Devils’ odds to go on and win a national title are set at 15/2, which are third-best among the final 16 teams. Gonzaga is further down the list at 12/1.

The battle for the West Region title should come down to a matchup between No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 2 Arizona. The Wildcats are actually favored to win the West at 5/6 odds at Bodog with the Badgers listed as 3/2 second-favorites. Arizona will first have to get past No. 6 Xavier on Thursday as a 10.5-point favorite while Wisconsin takes on No. 4 North Carolina.

Kentucky is still at the top of the list at even money 1/1 odds to complete its perfect 40-0 run to a national championship. The Wildcats will first have to wrap up the Midwest Region as prohibitive 1/4 favorites. Next up in the quest for perfection is No. 5 West Virginia. Kentucky has been listed as a 13.5-point favorite for Thursday’s game against the Mountaineers.

If successful, the Wildcats would face the winner of Thursday’s other Midwest matchup between No. 7 Wichita State and No. 3 Notre Dame. Both teams have identical 7/1 odds to win this region, but the Shockers are 1.5-point favorites in this game.
