Patriots Among NFL Division Odds Favorites

Six of eight teams repeated as division champs in the NFL last season. Will that trend continue in the new season, or will other teams walk away with the divisional crowns?

Let’s start in the AFC East where not surprisingly the New England Patriots are -200 favorites at online sportsbook Bodog to win the division again. The Pats have won the division six years in a row and in 11 of the last 12 seasons. And with Tom Brady’s suspension rescinded there’s a good chance that streak continues.

The Bodog oddsmakers are giving Miami the best chance to unseat the Pats at +350, followed by Buffalo at +600 and the Jets at +1200.

In the AFC North the Ravens are small +150 favorite to reclaim the division. Reigning champs Pittsburgh are close behind at +200, Cincinnati is at +250 and the Browns are big underdogs at +1200. Missing Le’Veon Bell for the first two games could cost the Steelers a shot at repeating if they get off to a slow start.

The Colts ran away with the AFC South last year and are expected to again as -400 favorites. Houston is barely being given a shot at +425, while Tennessee and Jacksonville are both DOA entering the season as +1600 longshots.

Denver has won the AFC West in the last four straight seasons and they’re big favorites to make it five at -150. Kansas City comes in at +321, San Diego at +375 and Oakland doesn’t seem to have a prayer at +1200.

Over in the NFC the West has belonged to Seattle for the last two seasons. The Bodog oddsmakers expect a third, with the Seahawks listed as a -300 divisional favorite. Arizona is behind them at +500, St. Louis is at +700, and once mighty San Francisco has plummeted to +1600.

The NFC East came down to the wire last season and it should be tight again if the oddsmakers are on the mark. Philadelphia is a slim favorite at even money, while Dallas is at +170. The Giants slip behind at +500 and the Redskins are an afterthought at +1400.

In the NFC North it’s Green Bay and everybody else. The Packers are big favorites at -220. The Vikings are listed at +425, the Lions at +450 and the Bears are massive underdogs at +1800.

Finishing things off in the NFC South, the worst division in football a year ago, the Saints are the favorite at +175. That’s not a lot of confidence from the oddsmakers though with the Falcons right behind at +200 and the Panthers at +275. The Buccaneers aren’t even a huge longshot at +600.
