Rangers Leading Way on AL Pennant Odds

The Texas Rangers became the first team in baseball to reach 50 wins earlier this week and that has propelled them to the top of the AL Pennant odds at online sportsbook Bodog.

The Rangers have been on quite a run recently and as a result they’re starting to run away with the AL West. Texas has won eight of their last 10 games and 11 of 13. In the month of June they’re 19-6. With a 10-game lead in the division it should be no surprise that the Rangers are +250 favorites to claim the AL Pennant.

Also worth watching right now in the AL are the Cleveland Indians. The Indians slot in right behind Texas at +500 on the AL Pennant futures and they’ve earned that spot. The Indians are riding a 10 game winning streak and like the Rangers they’re also 19-6 this month.

The former AL favorites, the Boston Red Sox, have fallen back to +600 at Bodog. They’ve also fallen behind the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East. Boston still owns the No. 1 offense in the AL, but it hasn’t helped them much lately, as they’re 5-10 in their last 15 games.

The Toronto Blue Jays have also dropped on the future odds, down to +750. The Blue Jays do have the most wins in their division among teams in the AL East, but they’re 18-18 against the rest of baseball.

In the National League the Chicago Cubs continue to be the pennant favorite, but the San Francisco Giants are gaining on them.

The Cubs top the futures at Bodog at +175, with the Giants slotting in second at +275. Chicago has hit a small bump in the road lately with 2-6 record in their last eight games, which includes a sweep at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Giants have been crushing it lately with 13 wins in their last 16 games. Bettors and baseball fans may want to circle September 1 on their calendars as that’s the next time the Cubs and Giants square off at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs and Giants may be getting the most attention in the NL but don’t forget about the Washington Nationals. Washington is next in line on the futures at +450 even after a disappointing stretch from Bryce Harper lately and another turn on the DL for Stephen Strasburg. Despite that they still lead the NL East.
