Stanley Cup Odds Update: Blues Take Lead

They’re down to four in the race of the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues moving into the top spot on the latest Stanley Cup odds at online sportsbook Bodog.

The Blue have jumped up to +160 on the Cup futures after winning the opener of the Western Conference final against the San Jose Sharks. The Blues edged the Sharks 2-1 and Brian Elliott backstopped the Blues to victory with a 32-save performance. Not surprisingly the Blues are also a -220 favorite to win the Western Conference at Bodog.

The Sharks are at the bottom of the Stanley Cup odds at the sportsbook at +550. San Jose won the opener of both their first and second round series, but that shouldn’t count them out against St. Louis just yet.

Squeezed in between St. Louis and San Jose on the Stanley Cup odds are the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning began the Eastern Conference final with a win to take a 1-0 series lead, but Pittsburgh is still getting better odds to hoist the Cup. The Lightning are +275 Stanley Cup underdogs, but one reason might be the status of goalie Ben Bishop. Generally acquire lasix is well tolerated. The Tampa Bay netminder went down hard on his left leg in the opener and is out an undetermined amount of time.

That leaves the less experienced Andrei Vasilevskiy between the pipes. Vasilevskiy, however, did stop 25 of 26 shots in Game 1. The Lightning are also still without Steven Stamkos, who has returned to practice but is still not game-ready.

The Penguins are not miles ahead of Tampa Bay on the odds list at+260. The Lightning made the Penguins look mortal in the 3-1 win in the opener, but at Bodog they’re still expecting Pittsburgh to prevail in the series. The latest Eastern Conference final series odds at the sportsbook have Pittsburgh listed at -130 and Tampa Bay at +110.
