The oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodog have the Carolina Panthers set as the Super Bowl 50 betting favorites, and they have Cam Newton and company favored to win the game by six or less points as wagering opportunities roll out for the NFL’s title contest.
At Bodog the Panthers are sitting as 6-point favorites for the game at Levi’s Stadium as of the middle of the first week of betting, and Carolina winning by one to six points in the contest is the +300 favorite on the margin of victory proposition wager.
Carolina by seven to 12 points and Denver by one to six points are both set at +400 on the margin of victory prop bet, with Carolina by 13 to 18 points at +550. The Panthers blasted the Arizona Cardinals by 34 points in a 49-15 victory in the NFC Championship Game; Carolina winning Super Bowl 50 by 31 to 36 points is listed at a lucrative +2500 odds.
The Panthers are also the -190 favorite to be the first team to score 10 points in Super Bowl 50 according to the prop wagers at Bodog, with the Broncos the +140 underdog on those betting lines. Think neither team will reach 10 points in the game? That longshot scenario is listed at +7500 odds.
As well, the two teams combining to score 20 points or fewer is set at +2000, with a combined score of 41 to 50 points the +190 favorite on that prop wager. Carolina and Arizona combined for 64 points in the NFC Championship Game, but Denver and New England combined for just 38 points in the AFC Championship Game.
The second quarter of Super Bowl 50 is the +160 favorite to be the highest-scoring quarter, followed by the fourth quarter at +250, the third quarter at +450, and the first quarter at +500. No points were scored in the first quarter at Super Bowl XLIX last season, followed by 28 points, 10 points, and 14 points in the final three quarters respectively.
Finally, for those that like to get their Super Bowl prop bets out of the way quickly, the Panthers are set as the -145 favorite to score first on Super Bowl Sunday, with the Broncos at +115 on that betting line. Carolina is also the -125 favorite to score last in the game, with Denver at -105.
