Western Finalists Lead Stanley Cup Betting

The Anaheim Ducks joined the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL’s Western Conference final with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Calgary Flames on Sunday, and the teams share co-favorite status to win the 2015 Stanley Cup with 21/10 odds at online sportsbook Bodog.

The Ducks have lost only one game in the playoffs so far, falling to the Flames 4-3 in OT on the road last Tuesday before rebounding to win the next two to close the series out in five.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks completed a sweep of the Minnesota Wild last Thursday with a 4-3 road win and should be well-rested as they face a Southern California team for a spot in the Stanley Cup final for the second year in a row.

Chicago lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings in seven games last season, and the team will be appearing in the Western Conference final for the fifth time in seven years. The Blackhawks are trying to win their third Cup in six years.

The Western Conference champion has won six of the past eight Stanley Cups overall, with Anaheim starting the run in 2007. The Montreal Canadiens are the last Canadian team left in the field with Calgary out, and they are also the country’s most recent Cup champion, last winning it back in 1993.

Montreal remains a long shot though at 10/1 at Bodog, needing wins in Game 6 and 7 against the Tampa Bay Lightning just to advance to the Eastern Conference final. The Lightning are 11/2 to win it all and had led that series 3-0.

The New York Rangers have re-gained the status of favorites in the East and are 9/2 to win the Cup following two straight wins against the Washington Capitals in their second-round playoff series. The Rangers topped the Capitals 4-3 on the road in Game 6 on Sunday and will host Washington in Game 7 on Wednesday

New York has won all of its games by exactly one goal this postseason, setting an NHL record. Captain Alex Ovechkin guaranteed a road victory for his Caps in Game 7, and they are 9/1 to win the Cup at Bodog.
