Winnipeg Jets - Season Preview
The Winnipeg Jets faced the best player in the NHL and one of the hottest teams in the Edmonton Oilers in the 2020-21 NHL playoffs. Nobody expected it to be much of a series, as most pundits predicted a quick win for Edmonton. But against every existing narrative, the Jets not only won the series, they also swept the Oilers in the upset. Smothering defense to keep Connor McDavid in check led to perhaps the biggest playoff upset last year.
After an impressive first-round series, the Jets were then swept by Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens in the second round. It turned out that home ice advantage was not so much a deciding factor in that series against the Habs after all.
The Jets look for a bounce back 2021-2022 season from Pierre-Luc Dubois who had 0 goals and three assists in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games. Winnipeg is also trying to muck things up a little more this year with improved defense through the offseason acquisitions of Brenden Dillon and Nate Schmidt.

NHL Betting GuidesWinnipeg Jets Team History
1996 to become the Phoenix Coyotes. On June 25, 1997, the Jets were established as the Atlanta Thrashers, and became the National Hockey League’s 28th franchise during the 1999-2000 NHL season.
In 2011, True North Sports & Entertainment purchased the team and relocated the franchise from the ATL to Manitoba before the 2011-12 season where home games would be played at Bell MTS Place (formally known as MTS Centre). This just happened to be the first NHL franchise to relocate since 1997 when the Hartford Whalers became the Carolina Hurricanes.
Winnipeg Jets Playoff History
On April 9, 2015, the Jets clinched their first NHL Stanley Cup playoff appearance since relocating to Winnipeg. They finished the season in the second wild-card spot, and played the top-seeded Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the postseason. In the first playoff series which involved a team from Winnipeg since 1996, the Ducks were far too mighty and swept the Jets in 4 games.
In 2017-18, the Jets clinched their second playoff spot since relocating from Atlanta. They knocked off the Nashville Predators 5-4 in a shootout, to clinch a spot in the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs. On April 11, they won the first playoff game ever in the history of the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise after they beat the Minnesota Wild by a score of 3-2.
On April 20, Winnipeg won their first playoff series ever in the history of the franchise and the first for the city in 31 years after a 5-0 win over the Minnesota Wild in game five, taking the series 4 games to 1.
On May 10, the Jets made even more history by advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the first time ever, knocking off the Nashville Predators 4 games to 3. This marked the first time either iteration of the Winnipeg Jets had advanced past the second round of the NHL playoffs. The Jets beat the Vegas Golden Knights in the first game of their Western Conference series 4-2. However, Winnipeg ended up losing the next four games.
In 2019, the Jets clinched the playoffs, but lost in the first round to the eventual Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues in 6 games. The Jets didn’t do so well during the 2019-20 season largely in part of several high-profile defensemen departed like Jacob Trouba, Tyler Myers, and Dustin Byfuglien. Winnipeg was still in contention for a wild-card spot, but then the NHL shut down due to COVID-19.
Winnipeg was awarded a playoff spot as part of the new and expanded format, however injuries to star forwards Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine in Game 1 of their series against the Calgary Flames in the Qualifying Round hurt them in the long-run. The Jets were eliminated 3-1 in the best-of-five series.
NHL North Division
Last year, the Winnipeg Jets played in the recently realigned North Division with six other NHL teams which included the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and the Montreal Canadiens.

A lot like baseball’s runline, the puckline in NHL betting is hockey’s version of a point spread. And because NHL games are usually a lower scoring affair, this type of bet only uses a spread of 1.5 goals. NHL teams typically average a little under three goals per game, with the most common score being 3-2.
Single-event sports betting is the act of staking money on one selection or a single market. It offers bettors the opportunity to make a profit by predicting the outcome of one match. Single-event sports betting is prohibited in Canada. Bill C-218 and Bill C-13 were introduced in 2020 to legalize single-event sports betting in Canada. Both bills were set aside during the COVID-19 pandemic, but discussions and votes picked back up during early 2021.
